Despite being a relatively short debut release at only seven tracks, it's clear why St Louis-born gospel singer Amber Bullock won the US TV talent show Sunday Best back in 2011. For instance, the likes of the opener "Thank You Lord" and the gospel workout "We Must Praise" see the singer flex her substantial vocal cords before betraying a stylistic versatility with a stunning Ella Fitzgerald-like performance in the late night jazz exposé "For Every Mountain". Elsewhere, the diva pleasingly covers Dorinda Clark-Cole's "If It Had Not Been For The Lord" and white boy Chris Tomlin's "How Great Is Our God" (which is now a regular in the worshipping black church's repertoire). These tracks put Jesus to the forefront and further showcase Bullock's exemplary vocals before a brace of Richard Smallwood songs ("Secret Place" and "A City Called Heaven") close what is an accomplished debut from one of gospel music's brightest rising stars.
