Scottish singer Amie weighs in here with her debut single. The first thing I notice about this digital single is how full and rich the instruments sound. Although there are only three that I can discern (a piano, a cello and a violin) they are mixed perfectly and all fit snugly into their place in the song. The artistic minimalism of this piece really makes it stand out from the many other debuts of singers that are around right now. It's quite clear that Amie uses no autotune at all, although I have to say that occasionally there is a use for it. Once or twice Amie goes just off note enough for it to be noticeable, but not enough to ruin the song. Her voice as a whole is very nice, though. She puts a great deal of emotion into her recasting of some well known hymn lyrics. Worth checking out.
