Irish songstress Anna Looney's nine-track album demonstrates a folky feel and a feel good factor. It opens with "A Whale Of A Time", a pun voiced by the devil to Jonah as he waxes lyrical about the delights of doing your own thing. After this amusing start comes "Home Sweet Home", another up tempo number, with Eamonn Cagney's percussion and Jon O'Connell's double bass providing a catchy rhythm. Anah's keyboard skills and her beautiful Irish lilt come through well on the remaining tracks, with "Warrior God: Yahweh" a powerful and moving tribute to the One who "soars on the wings of the wind" and "picks me up like a precious, precious flower" being particularly strong. The final track, "The Angel Song" features a multi-voiced Anah in the chorus as she reflects on the Messiah's birth and on the day when we'll meet him face to face. Simon O'Reilly's pleasing contribution on guitar and glockenspiel must also be mentioned while Anah's songwriting gift and keyboard skills make for an attractive set. Although it has been over three years since her last release, 'The Valley Of Baca ', it was well worth the wait.
