This cassette is released under the banner of Soapbox Communications, the evangelistic organisation run by veteran rock-gospeller Steve Flashman. So who is Andi Green? I hear you ask. Remember Sivan, reviewed previosly in this esteemed magazine (CR 7). With this tape she has come out from under the wing of her band to produce a pop-soul long-player. Stylistically this is aimed right at the buyers of Kylie, Take That and Kim Wilde whom in fact Andi's voice vaguely resembles. It would seem on this album that medium is purely there to serve the message, something that could hardly be said of the majority of the secular versions of this style, and I can't help wondering if the people this music would appeal to are likely to listen much to what's being said here, important though it is. The lyric sheet may well help though, embellished as it is with Journey Into Life style road signs to help clarify the words. Musically, this tape is quite well polished, although the low budget does show through at times, while Andi's vocals are a little strained in places. Still, anyone wanting an alternative to "I Should Be So Lucky" could do a lot worse than start here.
