Here's an off-the-wall album if ever there was one. I mean, how often have you come across song titles like "I Don't Want To Punch. Your Face - Let's Just Fall In Love" or "You Won't Get To Heaven If You Smell Like That"? Yet beyond the zany humour is a guy with a great voice, reminiscent of Dr Hook. Indeed there is definitely a trans Atlantic feel permeating the whole album - notwithstanding sound clips from the Beeb and a song about the National Lottery. Undoubtedly, the album makes more sense if you've seen the gig (there's even a book with the same eye catching title). But here we have a multi media man who can write songs that have Top 40 written all over them. As with most low budget productions, the sound lacks audio dynamics while the pedestrian drum programming palls. Yet as a way-above-average demo, this will serve Andy well as an attention-grabbing introduction to the moguls of Alliance or Nelson Word. Surely such an original talent merits a wider hearing. This album may be off-the-wall but it ought to be in the shops.
