Anita is something of a pop star in her native Norway having released 14 albums and represented her country five times in the Eurovision Song Contest, not to mention making numerous television appearances and landing two film roles. This Christmas project is Skorgan's first UK release and follows on from 20 years of taking time out from bigger audience venues to perform at intimate church gigs during the festive season. From the outset, it is Anita's voice that shines amidst the skilful production of Jon Willy Rydningen and the fragile strength of her vocal performance must be one of the best kept secrets outside of Scandinavia. Skorgan effortlessly flits between styles with the light country of "Little Road To Bethlehem" sitting well beside the likes of the Celtic-tinged "Be Thou My Vision" and Andrew Lloyd Webber's classical piece "Pie Jesu". Elsewhere, songs in her native tongue are bravely included with Norwegian versions of "Silent Night" and "Mary's Boychild" and the traditional "Et Lite Barn" being just as accessible as their English counterparts thanks to the beauty, sincerity and skill of Skorgan's delivery. In short, a stunning release that will hopefully see this talented lady make her name in the UK.

Having been intruiged by the etheral beauty of the cover of this C.D I just had to buy it! I had not heard of the artist before so was truly amazed when I heard her voice - so pure & so beautiful. This is festive music at it's finest... kept simple - not showy or brash as some Christmas albums have a tendancy to be - but uplifting & spiritual. The instuments are subtle and compliment the vocals wonderfully. I decorated my tree whilst listening to this and was moved to contemplate the true meaning of Christmas...
My favourite track - track 3 - hauntingly beautiful vocals to the music of Bach's Prelude...
I think everyone should hear this!!

A truly unique and exquisite album. Anita Skorgan has one of the most amazing voices that I have ever heard. Her voice evokes tranquility, compassion and beauty.

I highly recommend this album, it is most definitely the perfect Christmas present!

This is a beautiful Christmas album. Anita has a stunning voice and I love the way she sings Silent Night in Norwegian. There are plenty of songs in English and my favourite is Kyrie in which she has used Bach's Prelude as the backdrop. I managed to find a copy for sale in the North-East but have found a link where you can hear some of the tracks and buy it http://www.thruthemill.net/adventus-album
