American band the ApologetiX have carved out a nice niche career in American CCM playing parodies of popular mainstream songs and creating humorous Christian lyrics. There's still debate whether this is legal from a publishing perspective but there's no doubting that it's fun! There's also a breadth of material here from "Cornelius" (Simon and Garfunkel's "Cecilia") through "YHWH" (Village people's "YMCA") to "Smells Like Thirtysomething Spirit" (yeah, right - Nirvana!). To be honest I'm not sure whether the band would survive an onslaught from the Beatles' solicitors if they ever heard "Love The Jews", their parody of "Love Me Do". However the chances of this catching on over here is minimal! Like Weird Al Yankovitch, this is very funny the first time you hear it, like "Baa! We're Lambs", the take off of The Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann" - hilarious.once!
