Ah! At last, the lady with the lung power's eagerly awaited follow up to her mighty 'Big Town' album. At first sight this lacks the clear Christian lyric content of that album; in fact the songs indicate painful struggles, possibly through a personal relationship failure. You can feel a bit of an intruder staring through the window at sensitive situations, sometimes feeling you should just tiptoe away quietly and make her a cup of strong tea. Faith seems decidedly wobbly and it's only on the last song, "Light At The End Of The Tunnel" where the writhing calms down into "The more I think, the less I know/But I resisted letting go/To leave the course of alchemy/To him whose hands created me/And though my feet are made of clay/I know I'm getting somewhere." So it's raw honesty, very brave particularly as this has Christian distribution into the sphere where increasing numbers are acting out total victory. But it all comes back to the voice, capable of pounding a song into yielding its full potential, aggressive to the point of overwhelming. Superb band, featuring Kenny Greenberg's savage guitar work. Quality new songs. In all, it's enough to satisfy the most demanding connoisseur of rock music.
