Don't judge an album by its cover. Presented with a sleeve comprising the interior of a dark gothic church building penetrated by a shaft of light accompanied by the gothic text of the band name you may expect this to be dark and heavy. What you actually get is a bunch of friends collating a variety of musical styles including shaking tambourines. The females - Holly, Doris, and Penny - provide the vocals with the majority of the musicianship comprising five guys on electric guitars, bass, keyboard, drums, and the distinctive saxophone in place of lead guitar. Formed in 2003 the band began led worship in their church in Kansas but this is their first release of their own material. "Will You?" stands out as a simple, pretty track, asking God if he will love us in our weakness, set to an ethereal keyboard/piano with acoustic guitar picking. This is contrasted by the heavier rock tracks in the vein of Evanescence such as "Awaken" which threaten thunder but don't deliver on the lightning.
