This glorious journey back through the years amply demonstrates the consistency, quality and sheer soulful beauty of what BeBe and CeCe have achieved. What you get is the power of the duet entrusted to voices which have rarely been matched, with songs which have been crafted to give full vent to their artistry. Sparrow Records would have been spoiled for choice, yet any selection is a timely reminder of just how good these two are. And I blame Keith Thomas. He produces and arranges everything featured here. As if to emphasise the point, the ubiquitous Mr Thomas appears as co-writer on six out of the eight songs. On that form, it would be hard to over-estimate the creative influence of Thomas on the Winan's story. His is a lightness of touch which follows, rather than leads. Admittedly, to our 21st century sensibilities, the production is all a little basic - there is no virtuosity, no studio trickery - each joyous song is paired to perfection. It is all that is needed to release those soaring voices, these great songs, all that silkiness and passion. And what's on the couple's minds? Subjects such as "Heaven" (1988), "Lost Without You" (1987), and CeCe's wonderfully affirming prayer ballad "For Always" (1987). Listening to them, you realise again that their contribution to contemporary Christian music is immense, the spirit just as alive as ever. I gave the album the car treatment and it was truly inspirational. BeBe & CeCe are as fresh and uplifiting now as the moment they first hit our ears. Taste and hear.
