The rapper from Lacomb, Oregon who had a Cross Rhythms turntable hit with 2005's 'Activate' album makes a welcome return with this set which brings a rap rock fusion project that is not ashamed to proclaim that the rapper is not from the streets or hood, "but from countryside surrounded by the woods" ("Our Spot"). Dropping in rapcore elements, old skool hip-hop and R&B and more, Benjiman showcases a flexibility lyrically and musically that is truly refreshing. The project bangs into life with "Cella", an incredibly funky and grooving project which fuses some seriously crunchy guitar riffs (Brandon Bee), organ, hooky vocals and a go-for-the-jugular rap. The rapcore sound dominates on other tracks while "Eh Oh" fuses a guitar-laced R&B flava with an infectious contemporary pop sound for a cut which is just as tight as anything in the charts but features a rap praising God till the morning light. "Back Home" is a gentle yet powerful message, as Benjiman points to the hard things in life, reminding us that the blood of Christ can cover it all. Standout tracks include the moving, "Stones" with a surprise appearance of singer/songwriter Shawn McDonald while there's a real worshipful anointing on the funky "System".
