A British singer offers gospelisations of well known hymns and the songs selected, including "Rock Of Ages Cleft For Me", "Take My Life" and, of course, "Amazing Grace", are rich in theology and poetic expression. The opening track "Crown Him Lord Of All" ends with a superb electric guitar solo: Charles Wesley would surely approve! There is a funky brass section and a superb backing choir while production is top-notch throughout. The only minus, and I'm afraid it's a rather large minus, is the quirkiness and limitations of Beverley's voice. I'm afraid it just doesn't do it for me and I suspect too many other potential purchasers.
