Reviewed by Trevor Kirk Bill Miller is half German and half Mohican native American Indian and grew up in poverty and abuse on a reservation in Wisconsin. He became a Christian in 1979, is married with five kids (two adopted), his musical influences include Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix and he won five Native American Music awards in 2000. So enough of the bio, what about the music? This CD is Bill's first solo Christian album and it's stuffed full of guts, passion and ethnicity in equal measures. The native American rhythms are there, with one track in Bill's native tongue and a couple of instrumental pieces. He has a gritty, powerful voice with which to put across his message, which is fundamentally one of reaching out to the broken, poor and hurting, and loving them. In among the original material is the Hymn of St Francis, "All Creatures Of Our God And King", which gets a tribal drumbeat, anthemic vocals and some crunchy guitars: unconventional but effective. As for the remainder, it's cliche-free, exhilarating and uplifting. You'll be hearing this on UCB Europe! Order it now!
