Reviewed by Tony May First release on the new label from Embryo Arts, Belgium's version of Plankton Records grassroots emphasis you might say. Labelled 'roots' 'cos this Yorkshire group is strong on lotsa guitar, mandolin, harmonica and stuff, nailed onto a rock solid rhythm section and a powerful vocalist Jean Sands to name names. The band are very powerful on throbbing, beefy tracks such as "Blessed Rain", bit of a sizzler this one, so much good stuff going on in there. "One Foot In Eden" is stark, moody, with sneaky, floating guitar work that digs right into the awareness. Much of the music is arty and decorative, full of twists and shades, always commanding total interest and arousing flights of absorbing creativity in the hearer. Quality's what it's about, eh, listen to the vocalist's controlled emotion of "A Broader Mind", it's a lesson in putting over a song par excellence. Mixture of the band's old and new songs, in all a finely-polished set from an innovative, top quality band.
