Reviewed by Steve Best These guys obviously have a sense of humour, judging by the cover and the fact that they seem to have employed Dawson Leery out of Dawson's Creek on drums (sorry, bet you've heard that one before). For this, their second release, the seven-piece from Kent have certainly covered a number of bases musically, doubtless the result of much gigging, including supporting Phatfish. "Never Say Never" starts with atmospheric rainstick and culminates in a symphony of frenetic guitar riffola. "Ears To Hear", which follows, is characterised by crunching guitar throughout, while "One By One" changes the mood completely, with Spanish guitar and strings. "I Will Come To You" has an R&B/blues tinge to it while "Anything You Want" is straightforward pop. I have to confess that there is something about the mix which doesn't quite sound right - can't put my finger on it exactly, and also, despite the high level of gigging the band have put in, in what I suspect are still early days for them, they need to work a little more at tightness of ensemble, especially in the rhythm section. However, I don't want to be too discouraging over what is a good second album.
