For years Bobby Jones' TV show has been a showcase for America's gospel artists and there are quite a few people who owe him their career for his support. But somehow us Brits have never got quite so excited about his music. Recent internet controversy and suggestions that he supports homosexuality as a lifestyle probably haven't helped. As for this album, it's rare that Jones releases his own albums and in this case, even when he has it's the huge talent of the supporting cast that stands out rather than Jones himself. With contributions from Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Karen Clark Sheard, J Moss, Shirley Murdock, Darwin Hobbs, even I would sound cool in such company. This album gets off to a terrible start with Jones doing a horrible sickly voice over thanking God for his career and even songs like "Can't Nobody" and "Thank You Lord" which both hit an effective groove and contain fab vocal performances fail to redeem the opening. If you enjoy your gospel predictable, well performed but nothing special, you'll find something here to enjoy but too often to these ears it sounds dated and ordinary.

Product Description
Undeniably the hardest-working man in gospel music, Dr. Bobby Jones has become the international face of the genre. Not only is he the host of the longest-running show in the history of cable television - BET’s #1-rated Bobby Jones Gospel, on air for a record 26 years - but he also appears on other television and radio programmes broadcast regularly in America as well as hosting the International Gospel Industry Retreat twice a year, an event he created in 1995 to teach aspiring artists/musicians the tools of the trade as well as showcase the plethora of gospel talent that exists.
Bobby Jones’s first release for Gospo Centric Records is a reflection of every generation he has touched and continues to inspire. The album features guest appearances from J Moss, Donald Lawrence, 21:03, and the Nashville Super Choir. Producers for this project are a who’s who of the Billboard charts: Donald Lawrence (producer behind the hits Faithful Is Our God by Hezekiah Walker; Encourage Yourself by the Tri-City Singers; Let Go by DeWayne Woods and Blessed and Highly Favoured by the Clark Sisters); PAJAM (Operator by J Moss and I Will Bless The Lord by Byron Cage); Derrick Lee; and Caldwell Plus Productions, who have worked with the likes of Smokie Norful, CeCe Winans and Whitney Houston.
