Bonnie has always been one of Nashville's classiest acts. As a founding member of First Call she enjoyed five number one Christian radio hits, not to mention Dove Awards and Grammy nominations, before the influential vocal group broke up in a welter of lurid scandal. Having survived that and a fairly low profile these last few years here Bonnie returns with a crisply produced pop album ranging from the gospel-infused "Sweet Forgiveness", the bluesy "Something Was Broken" and the title track which has some nicely programmed rhythms. One American reviewer suggested that this album combined "the emotive style of Sarah McLachlan, the grit of Bonnie Raitt and the powerful depth of Annie Lennox." I'm not sure I can go along with such comparisons but I will say that all old fans of First Call plus those who like their Nashville pop soul-tinged and inspiring should check out Bonnie's impressive comeback.
