American songsmith Brant Christopher is a name I've not come across before, even though he apparently played at the Greenbelt Festival in 2004. I imagine that he will have gone down well with a typical Greenbelt audience fitting into the folky/pop singer/songwriter category alongside the likes of Martyn Joseph and other festival regulars. This new album follows on from his single "Cursed" released earlier in 2004 which happens to be the second track on this album. This is a well crafted affair, good solid songwriting with challenging lyrics coming from the songwriter's own experience - "Sorry my friend it's just not enough/I've got two pints of problems in my eight oz cup," Brant's bio makes for an interesting read!. I particularly liked production touches such as those at the start of "1000 Miles Away" (although I haven't played it backwards to work it out yet!). For me though the songs are not musically outstanding enough to be memorable and make me want to listen again and again as a great album would.

I've actually just recently met Brant at a Christmas party
with a member of our youth band. It was amazing the way it
worked out that we met him. I've found him to be an amazing
guy who is really committed to sharing what he believes in
his music. I enjoyed so much meeting him and am looking
foward to the "Heatseeking Caterpillars" (Our Youth band)
opening for his Febraury concert! As he so graciously
invited us to do. So what ever your opinion of his music,
he is an amazing man.
