Reviewed by Tom Lennie Bread Of Stone is a four-piece team hailing from Sioux City, Iowa, including two brothers, Bill and Ben Kristijanto, the latter of who is the main songwriter. 'Letting Go' is in fact the band's second venture and it's release is being accompanied by a heavy touring schedule. But gigging is hardly new to them - they're well familiar with the circuit, most notably supporting Petra on their Farewell Tour. Theme of the album, as suggested by its simple title, appears to be surrendering to God. This essential focus on self-sacrifice surfaces throughout the disc's lyrics, which are invariably fresh, thoughtful and uncliched. The predominant musical style is indie orientated rock, but while one or two tracks carry a full-throttle delivery, another couple (eg, "Life Of Faith", with its haunting violin) have a deep brooding edge, and others a worshipful, or more gently inspiring feel, with appropriate female bv's. This is an accomplished and varied set and an excellent showcase for so promising and spiritually committed a band.
