Bride are amongst the best in Christian rock and have gained a large following, despite the fact they seem to be constantly changing direction. Alternatively, you could say the band has now come full circle as this album has much in common with the band's early demos, when they went by the monicker, Matrix. This is much more commercial and more blues-orientated than earlier releases and the similarities with Guns 'n' Roses may help the band cross into the secular marketplace. Subjects covered range from suicide, to our responsibility to the poor and homeless, to the worthlessness of life without God. Everything is done without bringing the old cliches and generally puts a Christian perspective to ordinary, everyday situations and problems. Musically there are no standout tracks - this is pure excellence. I would say that Dale Thompson's vocal chords are best highlighted on "Troubled Times", "Hired Gun", "Kiss The Train" and the brilliant "Everybody Knows My Name". A truly great, gutsy album.
