Broken Bread were started in 2008 by Lydian Toneas, from Burbank, California as a response to his frustration over political debates taking place around him. He looked to John's Gospel for answers and the result was nine rock songs using Scripture as lyrics. The album opens with the keyboard-driven title track, which lays the foundation to the album. There is a definite '80s feel to the music presented here and this track is one of the strongest. Track three "Glory To Your Son" continues in the same mode with strong backing vocals by Ileana Wade. "I In Them You In Me" has an anthemic feel to it. There are some gentler moments however, such as "Bread Of Life" and "The Avocate" which enter the area of worship. Mostly the project works with words and music gelling together well and the crisp vocals of Dennis John delivers the message clearly.
