Ever since his departure from those seminal 70s jazz funkers the Sweet Comfort Band, Bryan has made good-in-parts solo albums. The problem has been Bryan's zaney sense of humour has sometimes so dominated that he's appeared a bit of a musical lightweight while his fluid vocal style at times can be close to black music parody. On this new album, which in the States is his most successful ever, there is a new seriousness, a greater songwriting maturity and, thanks to a choice set of LA musos assembled by producer Dan Posthuma, some of the most delightfully deft rhythm tracks you'll hear on any pop-gospel album. Standouts are the searing funky opener "Mercy Me (Love Is My Responsibility)" and the delicious soul-gospel ballad "You Don't Leave Me Lonely". A fine album.

This has got to be one of Bryan's all time best recordings. It has such a great soulful/pop sounding cd. I recall hearing "Love Takes Time" on ccm radio; I also have the video for this song;a top fave from cd.
"Into My Heart" is another great song; "When it Comes to Love" is just awesome; great songwriting Reed & Jeff, perfect for Bryan's vocals. I just luv "I'll Not Forget You", this one hits home all the way!!
CCM songstress Crystal Lewis adds her vocals to "Five Smooth Stones"; nice collaboration, and a song that will echo in the halls of ccm history. This is the cd to buy if you have nothing by Bryan to hear.
GOD Bless! -Don
