Bryan Duncan's received surprisingly scant attention in the UK, though his classy Sweet Comfort Band had a loyal following from the more discerning. This set was recorded live at the 1993 Flevo festival, with an accomplished backing band, and guests Anointed on backing vocals. Duncan comes over as a superbly mature craftsman, totally at ease with his tricky, demanding brand of funky, soulful R&B. The concert's halfway mark is punctuated by featuring Anointed, which seems to inspire Duncan to step up a gear to some truly sizzling stuff. "Ain't No Stoppin'" is a real crowd pleaser and "I Love You With My Life" is still a lovely gentle song. "Love Takes Time" is in the concerts and the enjoyable concept video of same is tacked on the end. Fine quality throughout, music that bears repeated listening. Now will someone give us Larry Norman and Darrell Mansfield concerts from Flevo, or anywhere else for that matter? My front room if you like, just do it.
