Another in the Timeless Classics Series that has featured stalwarts from the days when gospel music (well, the white stuff anyway) was oh, so safe, predictable and traditional. Here are 20 old-fashioned songs, sung in Burl Ives' friendly, country/folk minstrel style. He always was someone who communicated more through authenticity and warmth of personality rather than any notable musical merit or originality. Y'know, the sort of good ole boy you would enjoy hearing strumming away on the back porch, after supper, but couldn't imagine ever giving professional concerts. So, a pleasant session, but perhaps scoring higher on sentiment than quality of music
