Some of these cuts were originally released as the 'Medicine' EP in 1998 but others have now been added to expand it into a full length album, thanks to American independent label Massive Groove Productions. Whilst sonically eclectic in nature, the album's six new compositions sit well alongside the original set. As has been remarked before in these pages, Bushbaby are one of Britain's best alternative bands and this album is deftly delivered, providing a suitable framework within which Bushbaby express themselves. A little more of the band's experimental edge has been realised in such songs as "Loud As A Megaphone", "Space Corps 2000" and the heavily understated nature of "Heaven", an acoustic driven power ballad of introspection and observations of a life struggling to find meaning. In producer Jez Coad, the band have seemingly found someone who has challenged and encouraged them to excel, without losing any of their unique edge, resulting in a welcome progression of sound, helping to establish Bushbaby as a force to be reckoned with. 'Medicine' stands as a mile stone, pointing in the right direction for a band that look set to go from strength to strength.
