Beracha Records is Candi's label operating out of Georgia and as such is soaked in that gritty, deep fried Southern soul. Candi Staton's pedigree and experience ooze from this session, urged on by classy, funky backing that reaches deep and satisfies totally. "When I See The Blood" opens the set in brisk style, a familiar theme sung with passion and conviction. "Mama" is a good old fashioned emotional ballad that soars, dips and twists in a fine vocal performance. Other treats include "The Greatest Worship" which earns top marks for its tender interpretation and truthful message. "I Want To Grow" is another rich, mature offering that hits home superbly. This is no trivial, rave up CD but rather something to provide long term enjoyment and challenge.
