Case Crayenord (aka Kees Kraayenoord) has been honing his songwriting skills for over eight years at his local church in Holland. Over that time he has built up relationships with many internationally known worship leaders. Case recently said, "I love to co-write. . . so I'll take my ideas to other writers and worship leaders and then try to finish a song together." And that's what we see on this album: all 12 tracks are co-written. The single "Saviour's Song" was written with Tim Hughes and Martin Smith. However good the pedigree, it's not the standout track - that's probably "Wide Open Spaces", written with Tom Lane. The track has a great feel with a very opened-up rhythm, interesting production, a second vocal line and a stylophone! "Only You Can Save" is another very catchy song ably displaying Case's expressive voice. He names U2 as a seminal influence and you can hear it in several tracks, for example "O What A Mystery". "We See Your Cross" features a duet with Cathy Burton and her delicate voice really makes the track. "Ruler Over All Creation" is a song Case wrote back in 2006 and is rather hymn-like but with a modern, up-beat treatment and U2-style bass. If you've yet to investigate this gifted worship man's music, here is a good place to start.
