On my first listen there is no doubt in mind that Catherine Froud has a promising and strong vocal ability, heard on the likes of "In The Ghetto". What we have here is a family work. Catherine's dad, the well known Yorkshire-based musicianary John Froud, writes the majority of the songs though, of course, the title song is the Carole King classic. There are a few tracks where father and daughter ensemble sing together, on "Reason To Believe" and "I Hear You Calling", and it's only my opinion, but they just don't work. To be fair, I find this album all a bit strange. There is definitely a passion behind the voice, no better demonstrated on a very brave attempt of the stunning Leonard Cohen masterpiece "Hallelujah". Catherine, I believe, has much more in her just waiting to be unleashed. We look forward to her creative development.
