'Burn Out' was a gem much loved by readers of this mag. But that was two years ago so a thousand questions rushed through this reviewer's head as 'Speed Your Love' hit play. For one track I wasn't sure, for despite the engaging  jangling guitars wrapped artfully around Cathy's voice. I didn't care for the song and found the "la la la love" chorus perilously close to lazy songwriter's syndrome. But then track two "Down The Road" kicked in and soon I was completely caught up as that uncannily poignant voice of Cathy's glided over those fluid alt country rhythms. The magic continued over the next track, "Home", a haunting piano rhythm and a swelling chorus shimmered and smouldered. By the time the wistfully beautiful title track concluded I was convinced. Cathy Burton had delivered another superb album. I still don't care for "La La Love" but there's so much here which is deftly executed and exquisitely sung in that unique little-girl-lost voice that I know this, like its predecessor, will capture the hearts of many, many listeners.
