There's a certain tendency amongst us Brits to view "Celtic music" from Americans with a certain suspicion and it has to be said that one or two seriously sad Nashville cash-ins have been foisted on us in the past. But this team, led by Bob Halligan Jr, veteran rock composer (Judas Priest) turned roots 'n' reel frontman, is highly enjoyable. The fiddle, Uillean pipes, whistles, et al are never overdone and Mr H provides song hooks a plenty. My favourite is the romping "God Done Good" though the Rich Mullins-tinged "The Fighting Chain" is growing on me fast. If you can't wait for the next Electrics album, check these guys out.
