She may only be 20 years old, but Charity Daw is already a singer/songwriter with a mature outlook on life. Opening her debut release with "The 'I Want' Song" she lists a whole catalogue of 'must haves' in today's materialist and fame-obsessed age, before finally turning her attention to the one real essential: "I want to live forever/I want to live right now/I heard it's possible/Can you tell me how?" The Miami-based singer is also unafraid of crossing stylistic boundaries: "Still" brings hip-hop into the album's sound palette, "Where Your Glory Dwells" and "Tragedy Anne" have a higher-paced rock feel, and there's even an laid back jazz/blues mood to "Church Shoes". Only eight tracks long, "Juvenalia" is more mini-album than a full length CD, so I'm left hoping that it's just the curtain-raiser for greater things to come.
