The opening track here “Waiting (Here For You)” was a major pop chart hit in Charizma’s homeland and one listen will demonstrate why, for it’s a thoroughly catchy song about God waiting to take control of our lives and a hook you’ll just want to sing along to. Anyone who read about Charizma back in CR50 or even further back, enjoyed them when their rock was decidedly heavy, will be surprised by the ’03 version of the band. Today their sound is an engaging pop rock concoction with catchy programming, jangling guitars and lead singer Johan Mauritzson powerfully singing songs about God’s great mission (“Shout It Out”), the saving grace of God (“One Step Away”) and heavenly expectation (“New Day Coming”). This is top quality pop which deserves to be given exposure on the international scene.
