If you are a watcher of UK TV you'll remember that Charlie became something of a star after his appearance in the second series of Britain's Got Talent in 2008. Then an 11 year old boy whose clear soprano tones when warbling a Frank Sinatra oldie brought forth Simon Cowell's comment that Charlie was "a little star" the English-Filipino singer from Droitwich has gone on if not to fully fledged stardom, certainly a singer whose previous albums and steady touring have brought him a legion of fans. Brought up in a Salvation Army family, Charlie has now made his first album of worship songs and hymns. They include Maranatha's "Lord I Life Your Name On High", the Gaither's "Because He Lives", Lenny LeBlanc and Paul Baloche's "Above All" and for lovers of the old hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "When I Survey". The 17 year old's voice has matured to a warm tenor while the jazz-style arrangements, skillfully put together by Adam Goldsmith, offer plenty of outstanding brass work. If you're a fan you'll be delighted with Charlie's praise music.
