Though well into his seventh decade, the veteran MOR country troubadour shows no signs of hanging up his trademark black hat and heading off into the sunset and retirement. A 22-date tour of the UK in October and November 2005, with a schedule that would exhaust folks half his age, shows that he's still committed to bring his brand of good-time easy listening country to his legions of fans. And those fans will be well pleased with the 16 tracks here, even though the man's pipes are beginning to suffer slightly from the ravages of anno domini. Christian radio station music managers will struggle to find anything to playlist, but there's always a feel-good mood to the music, which shows that Charlie's personal faith is still there; in fact the simple sentence "Thank you Lord" at the end of his preamble to the sleevenotes says it all. If your thing is deep theological thinking person's music, look elsewhere; otherwise, kick off your shoes, relax and enjoy.
