As a long standing supporter of Charlie's, I always look forward to his new albums and I was delighted to receive this one. The first CD comprises of 17 new recordings with a bonus CD of live highlights from a show. Charlie has wisely chosen a few classics to mix in with the dozen or so new songs giving a nice blend representing very good value for money. Of Charlie's new songs I particularly enjoyed "Fog On The River", the unusually titled "Bullet In Your Gun" and the very moving song about drug addiction "Some Mother's Son". Full lyrics are included in the booklet. Some well known country songs such as John Prine's "Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness" and two classics from Gordon Lightfoot "Early Morning Rain" and "Cotton Jenny" all add up to one of the Merseyside songsmith's finest albums. Like good wine, Charlie just gets better with age! Recommended listening.
