An album that flies a flag for British country while showing us that even ol' fashioned country music can hit the mark when it's done well. Charlie's brand of cowboy tunes fits more into the Willie Nelson school for sentimental country ballads, rather than the young guns' new country that tend to mix rockin' rhythms with pedal steels and banjos. Having said that, Mr Landsborough manages to deliver some very pleasant listening indeed, and like the aforementioned Nelson sings some 'crying in your Bud' country with such utter conviction that you just have to like the guy. 'What Colour Is The Wind?' isn't going to smash any new musical ground, but it does prove that when good ol' country is played and sung the good ol' way by a good ol' boy then you still end up with a good ol' album.
