Britain's jack-of-all-trades gospel communicator continues relentlessly on and on this, his second full length since thebandwithnoname's break up, shows he's lost none of his mastery of pop hooks and (with help from co-producers Tim Gosden and Joel Atkins) engaging rhythms. 'All In' opens with a preaching sample from the late Jamie Buckingham and then launches into "Set It Off" which is rap all the way. Obviously a crowd-lifting opener of Chip's future live set ("Everybody in the place get ready/Somebody better sound the alarm/We're about to make the place go crazy"). One can easily imagine thousands jump, jump, jumping to celebrate the fact that they've "got a love that is certain." A different mood is the title track - a mid-tempo pop dancer sung with aplomb by Chip which sounds a little like something Toby Mac might come up with in his more pop moments. Equally poptastic is "Light Party", the song with which Chip has partnered with Scripture Union "to redeem Halloween and bring Light Parties to churches all across the UK." I didn't enjoy every moment of 'All In' but I suppose I must forgive Chip's indulgence in getting his tot Eden reading a Scripture on an interlude. But we're soon back with what could be the catchiest song on the set "Front Row" though I'm really getting into Chip's call to spiritual warfare, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow". Yep, Chip can still deliver the goods.
