Continuing on from his previous release (see review in CR56), Chris is back with an all-instrumental follow up which is more or less the mixture as before, but also features the full length version of the title track of the first album. Unlike Chris Tozer, who heard a bit of Phil Keaggy when listening to the first album, I was immediately struck by the resemblance soundwise to '80s classical/pop/rock fusion band Sky, which featured classical guitar maestro John Williams and the hot axe of fellow Aussie Kevin Peek. The main difference between Chris and Sky is that, in spite of (or perhaps because of) Sky's improvisational talents, their music had recognisable melodies; the electric tracks on this CD don't seem to have a decent hook between them, consisting of endless fancy fretwork over a chugging drum and bass, and it's only when the acoustic classical guitar comes out that there's anything approaching a tune. I can only concur with the earlier reviewer: Chris's musicianship is still way ahead of his compositional skills. Still some work needed.
