Essex-based singer/songwriter and worship leader Chris Spring states that the aim of his latest album is to offer up songs that are a creative expression of his own worship of God - songs that the listener will hopefully be drawn into and inspired by. With this goal in mind, the songs here are naturally more personal but they thankfully avoid falling into the trap of coming across as self-obsessed. Instead, Spring uses his sizeable songwriting skills to present pieces that still tell of God's magnificence and glory but also communicate the difference the Lord makes in the believer's own life. Proceedings kick off with the stomping "I've Come In From The Shadows" and, from the outset, it's clear that this is a quality affair with a passionate and expressive vocal throughout from Spring and some top class musicianship and production - mostly by the man himself - ensuring that this independent project holds its own in terms of craftsmanship and professionalism when compared to big label worship releases. With many highlights to choose from, tracks like the upbeat crowd-pleaser "Shout For His Glory", the tender song of devotion "Take Me All" and the beautiful piano-led "This Mountain" stand out as exemplary pieces of worship songwriting and showcase both Spring's adept musicianship as well as an innate ability to communicate matters of the heart in relation to his Saviour.
