This is the seventh album from Chris and his fourth independent production. Things have not changed much from the style and production perspective - it is still paired back acoustic rock'n'roll delivered with passion and bag loads of charisma. Chris has been compared to a lot of acts over the years and for me there is a lot of Larry Norman here. From the uptempo opener "Stay Wild" with a full compliment of drums and synths things soon fall back to the vocals and acoustic guitar treatment that most songs here have. However, this album is all about the lyrics and their delivery, both of which are excellent. Covering a huge amount of ground including celebrity culture, moral living and how theology touches reality, the lyrics seem simple but then catch up and overtake you with their depth. The production might be reminiscent of the '70s - guitar on the right, vocals on the left on "Heartbreak Girl" - but this just puts the lyrics into even sharp focus. All this makes 'Rock'n'Roll Heart' a thinking man's acoustic rock must-have.
