Reviewed by Tony Cummings With over eight number one radio singles, 16 Dove Awards, three Grammy nominations, two gold and a platinum albums to date, Tomlin is truly the dominant figure in modern worship. His latest album does not disappoint. In a time when many pop rock worship albums are sounding stereotypical and lacking creative flare 'And If Our God Is For Us' sounds fresh and dynamic. For the first time using two producers, Ed Cash, who of course Chris has used on his previous albums, and Dan Muckala, who gives Chris a snappier, more immediate pop sound without losing the wistful, worshipful feel of his old hits, no Tomlin follower will be disappointed. The standout songs here are "Our God", "I Lift My Hands", "Majesty Of Heaven", "No Chains On Me" and "The Name Of Jesus", some of which are bound to become church favourites around the world. From the powerful "Our God" (a version of which was on the 'Passion: Awakening' CD) to the catchy "No Chains On Me", a collaboration with Matt Redman and Jesse Reeves, this album manages to tick all the worship album boxes - namely songs that with their bold declaration of adoration of the Lord are destined for extensive congregational use but creatively produced to maximise radio play.

Chris Tomlin returns with his much-anticipated new album And If Our God Is For Us, which features the new single I Will Follow and a new studio recording of Our God, the anthemic declaration of faith that has already spent numerous weeks on top of the Christian radio charts. The new songs on And If Our God Is For Us came from Chris’ experience as a worship leader over the years, and currently at Passion City Church in Atlanta, led by communicator and pastor, Louie Giglio. As the songwriter behind the worship favorites How Great is Our God, Jesus Messiah, Holy is the Lord and Forever, Chris continues to write songs that connect people to heart of Jesus and lead them to a greater worship of Him. |
