If you're familiar with Hillsongs then you'll have an idea what to expect here. I have immediate misgivings about this because the clash of "worship" with performance makes me uncomfortable. This is slick! There are seven worship leaders, a huge band, a pile of backing singers, an enormous choir and a massive horn section to make this is a BIG BIG BIG affair. The weird thing is that amongst all the sharply dressed participants, there isn't a single ugly person! This must be the world's most glamorous church! Unless they hide the ugly musicians at the back! Most disconcerting is the fact that people seem to have an eye on the camera. With such resources and a pile of decent funky worship songs, it's all nicely shot and put together. But I'm never convinced that filmed worship events really work on DVD. Sitting at home watching it on the telly, is it worship or entertainment? As a DVD there are plenty of bonus features with a behind-the-scenes documentary of how the whole thing was staged from vision and conception to performance. There are also some older videos from previous worship albums that show how Oxford Falls have developed. Fine if you like this sort of thing, but for me the very glossiness of this perturbs me.
