This is a collection of nine new settings by Christopher Norton of hymn texts by Charles and John Wesley, Isaac Watts, John Newton and William Cowper. It is designed for mixed voices and has easy notation, which is well in the reach of an 'average' musician, except the guitar chords. There is a varied selection of two, three and four part harmonies, which sound interesting, particularly in comparison to modern songs where there is very little written or sung harmony! Maybe something which could be encouraged. It is worth noting that these hymn settings are available on the Kingsway Hymn Makers series of recordings which is always helpful to those who need to hear the music first. I don't think the packaging is particularly going to sell the product!
