Promo copies of this tremendous album have been out for more than a year but, because of protracted distribution negotiations, it's only now that it's in the US shops. The band come with a pedigree, having been the Best Contemporary Christian Band award at 2003's Music In The Rockies sponsored by US CCM's big mover and shaker, the Gospel Music Association. What you get here is polished modern rock absolutely crammed with radio friendly anthems (Cross Rhythms have chosen five cuts for its playlist in the coming months). Lead singer Gabe Martinez has a memorably versatile voice, able to huskily croon on the quieter, jangly guitar tracks and switch to full throated roaring for the rockers. Highlights are the climactic "Home", the wistfully contemplative "Up To The Sky", the hard rocking "Weather Boy" and the engaging title track opener. Production by Tommy Collier, Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong is top rate too. US trade mag Christian Retailer called this "one of the finer rock releases of the year." I agree.
