Yet another collection of Tudor Anthems - could I bear to plough through them, I asked myself? One listen to "Ave Maria" by Robert Parsons and the goose bumps answered the question for me. It's one of those tracks you hear every now and then that just capture the imagination, and although you don't entirely switch the grey matter off, you are instantly transported to that elusive realm of aesthetic delight which is as indescribable as one of those old masters which draw you into a new, unexplored discovery every time you encounter it. The singing can only be described as 'delicate as a Belgian truffle' - music that melts in the ear! Nuff said.
