Cloud Eight are a duo from Mansfield, Julie Turner and Matthew Wright. Julie has an excellent pop voice, the songs have snappy hooks and several times throughout this album I thought it was going to catch fire. What really holds it back are some entirely inappropriate arrangements, the heavy rock guitar on the opener "Cloud Eight" for instance doesn't begin to work while some of the programming is too robotic and empty to bring out what is a good voice and some good songs. A below average tape from an above average grassroots gospel team.
