Hailing from Colorado, this Denver-based four-piece band have been together for three years building up a reputation in their home state before recording this debut album last summer. Purveyors of quirky, jangly, guitar pop rock in an alternative mould, singer Russell Fletcher's plaintive voice floats over plenty of lightly strummed guitars throughout the recording. The band have a habit of writing songs that move from light to heavier musical shades in the span of three minutes. Only occasionally do they completely let loose on "Speechless" and "Take A Sip". My favourites include the closing passionate "100%" with its introspective verses breaking out into a huge wall of sound chorus and the fun "9-1-00" though what the latter song is about, I have no idea! Good fun though! Reminded me a little of They Might Be Giants. Obviously recorded on a low budget, and though occasionally there's a guitar or vocal out of tune, the band overcome their financial limitations with plenty of creativity. A promising debut.
