A 91 minute video of the concert at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, in November 1993. Subtitled "A Musical History Of The Jewish People" the presentation came as a heartfelt desire by the composer and performers to reach out to Israel in sorrow for that nation's historical suffering at the hands of the Church. The work is divided into three parts, the birth of the Jewish nation, the dispersions, and up to date with the aliyah (return to the land) we've seen this century. The choir consists of people from most of the denominations, likewise the orchestra, all professional musicians. The soloists are exemplary, with a special nod to the mighty bass/baritone of Norman Welsey. Most of the music is classical with moments of pop, rock and Jewish music and is totally professional as is every aspect of this wonderful video. The subtle use of slides works extremely well. Recommended without any reservations; might even help remedy some of the current dodgy teaching about Israel.
