This is the third CD release from the Washington-based musician. This is acoustic guitar-based blues with plenty of harmonica and (get this!) whistling! The blues style is quite traditional with Brown's gravely voice ideally suited to that genre. Brown is a painter and sculptor who has sailed extensively and has played guitar from the age of seven. Judging from this disc he has done a lot or practicing since then! The album alternates between songs and instrumentals. The guitar work on the wordless "Jazz Break" and "Stuffed Etc" is deftly toe-tapping. Lyrical themes include praise in "Like A Refiner" and "The Branch" and the narrative "Euraquilo" retelling the Apostle Paul's fraught journey to Malta (perhaps more evidence of Brown's sailing experience) with gentle humour, and an expose of Pharisaic hypocrisy in "Raving Wolf". Brown also covers "Amazing Grace". And the meaning of the album title? Not a clue!
