Back in 2010 Dan was fronting a West Sussex-based band We Are Jonah who produced an unexpected Cross Rhythms radio hit with "Treason". Today, Dan is worship team leader at The Kings Church in Burgess Hill and this seven-song mini-album is his first wearing that particular hat. The first cut is indeed the "stonking song" Dan claims on his Facebook page and with a simple yet effective keyboard riff and a bold declaration of the source of our worship is the kind of song with the potential to travel beyond West Sussex. There are other songs of note here too. "He Is Love" is lifted by some clever cross rhythms put together by producer Sam Cox while the reflective worship ballad "How Sweet The Name" builds nicely once Dan moves up an octave. There's nothing very adventurous in the lyrics but these simple declarations of abandoned love are fine for the job in hand - declaring our devotion for (to use one of Dan's song titles) the "God Who Rescues".
